We had a wonderful trip and really enjoyed our time at Cap Juluca in Anguilla. The $100 resort bonus was simply deducted from our bill, which made things easy, and we were upgraded to a Junior Suite when we arrived. There was chilled champagne and a fruit and cheese plate waiting for us in our room as well! Our room was on the first floor with about a 20 step walk to our beach lounge chairs, with a view that couldn’t be beat!
I would say that in general, the facilities are a bit outdated, but that absolutely wouldn’t deter me from returning to the resort, as the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, responsive and helpful. The workout room has clearly been updated in the last few years, as the equipment was up-to-date and plentiful (much better than I had expected, honestly).
We ate most of our meals at Cap Juluca, and celebrated our anniversary with a private beach dinner right in front of our villa. We had the opportunity to meet with Chef Dean the day before to plan our meal, and the whole night went off without a hitch. Carol, one of the managers, came by to check on us and took a great picture (attached) We had a small issue related to getting some bikes delivered so we could take a ride around the island, but we ended up being glad that we didn’t leave, as it gave us one last opportunity to lay on the beach and read/nap/relax! I’m not sure that biking around would have been the best plan anyway, as the roads are a bit sketchy J.
We visited the CuisinArt resort for drinks and dinner one night, and while it was beautiful and obviously more current, we both agreed that we liked our resort better for the specific reasons we went to the island in the first place: a laid back, casual and relaxed atmosphere, a room that was steps from the beach and a smaller property with what felt like our own cove and beach.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and the whole experience lived up to our expectations.
